In Puerto Vallarta, a brand-new Terminal 2 is set to open in phases throughout 2025 and 2026. Once complete, it will double the airport’s capacity to more than 8 million passengers per year. Expect a bright, modern, and sustainable space with solar energy, water-saving systems, and planned LEED Gold certification. More gates, expanded customs areas, and upgraded baggage systems will make your arrival and departure smoother. This work will be completed just in time for the debut of Cirque du Soleil LUDÕ and the upcoming BON Luxury Theme Park at VidantaWorld Nuevo Vallarta.
Over in Cancun, expansions are well underway, too. Terminal 4 is being enlarged and Terminal 1 is undergoing a complete remodel. Both terminals will reopen by late 2026. These upgrades are part of a long-term plan to handle tens of millions more passengers in the years ahead. Travelers can look forward to quicker check-ins, more gates, and an even greater selection of nonstop flights from cities across the U.S. and Canada.
Tip for Travelers: As these projects wrap up, watch for more direct flight options, faster airport processing, and a smoother start and end to your vacation, whether your Vidanta getaway takes you to Puerto Vallarta or Cancun.
