If you’re heading to paradise this holiday season, you and your family are in for a treat!
We’ve transformed the sunny shores of Mexico into a magical wonderland outfitted with all the trimmings and boasting a list of activities almost as long as the one Santa is checking twice. No matter which destination you’re visiting—whether it’s Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta or Vidanta Mazatlán—we’ve got a full line-up of ways to welcome the holiday cheer into your vacation. Here’s a sampling of the festivities that you can enjoy at your favorite resorts.
Activity: Letters to Santa
What: Help your littlest ones draft their dispatches to the North Pole and sneak in a few last-minute gift requests of your own. And don’t forget to enjoy some cookies or some delicious Mexican hot chocolate while you write.
Activity: Los Posadas Celebration
What: Los Posadas means “the inns” in Spanish, and is a popular Christmas tradition in Mexican culture honoring Mary and Joseph’s search for refuge before arriving at an inn. A typical Los Posadas celebration includes a costumed reenactment, followed by a piñata for all to take a swing at, and then holiday punch and cookies.
Activity: Santa’s Arrival
What: Help the Joy Squad prepare for Santa’s big entrance with music and treats. Once Christmas’ jolly bigwig shows up, the kids can meet his whole crew—elves, reindeer, and of course St. Nick himself!
Activity: Piñata Making
What: In Mexico, it’s common to celebrate the season by busting out the piñata at your holiday party. Learn to make your own as the Joy Squad demonstrates construction and decoration, then break it with your family at your own festivities.
Activity: Three Kings Day Celebration
What: Three Kings Day is an important part of the Christmas season in many Latin American countries, and marks the day the three kings, or Magi, arrived with their gifts for the newly born baby Jesus. Come commemorate this event by partaking in the rosca de reyes, a delicious ring-shaped cake.
