Vidanta might not have any snow, but the holidays shine just as bright here.
At each and every resort, we’ve decked our halls with beautiful decorations. From ornaments and lights to fiery poinsettias, the festive feeling is flourishing in paradise. Warm thoughts and wishes go into every detail, be it a decadent chocolate Santa at the Gourmet Market, a North Pole village at La Plaza or even a whimsical photo-op with Santa. And the crowning jewel of all of this holiday cheer and festive spirit is—hands down—the Christmas tree at Nuevo Vallarta.
For the last 3 years, Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta has boasted an enormous Christmas tree floating in the majestic lake in front of La Plaza. This stunning tree is hand assembled using vibrant, multi-colored baskets created by local craft makers in Chiquilistlán, Jalisco. It takes months to design and 40 days to assemble it, but the end result is well worth the work and wait!
In its essence, this tree isn’t just a symbol for Christmas and the holidays, it’s a symbol of local culture, togetherness, gratitude, love, and creativity. At 72 feet high, it takes 22 trained and detail-oriented workers to erect this brilliant towering marvel constructed of 885 local artisan baskets. It weighs a whopping 6,500 pounds and the star alone is 90 pounds (try stealing that, Mr. Grinch!).
This iconic tree is truly breathtaking in all of its vibrant 11 color schemes day or night. On December 7th, the official lighting ceremony was held and guests and Vidanta staff alike came to see the gorgeous tree and its 7-foot star shine bright. With Christmas music drifting through the warm night air, and the scent of baked goods wafting in from the nearby pastry shop, Croquant, the spirit of the holidays was impossible not to indulge in.
Whether you’re here or at home making your own tree-traditions, we hope the brilliance of our decorations brings everyone closer together to celebrate all the gifts we have in each other. After all, it’s this special time of year that brings us all together to inspire true happiness inside and out.
Happy holidays, from all of us at Vidanta!
