When you arrive at Vidanta, fresh linens, fluffy towels, and crisp napkins feel like a given.
But behind that simple luxury are two of the largest on-site laundry operations in all of Latin America—powered by massive facilities at both Vidanta Riviera Maya and Nuevo Vallarta. These are places where efficiency meets artistry. And, as Heidy García, Executive Manager of General Areas, puts it, “laundry is less about washing and more about creating comfort for every guest.”
At Vidanta Riviera Maya, Heidy’s team tackles up to 16 tons of laundry per shift. This is the equivalent of 2,200 bed sheets, 9,000 towels, 6,000 napkins, and hundreds of uniforms that keep resort life running seamlessly.

“It sounds overwhelming, but we have a system that’s as precise as it is passionate,” Heidy explains.
Automated tunnel washers, folding machines, and even a reverse osmosis system ensure linens are spotless while reducing environmental impact.
Meanwhile, at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta the scale gets even more astonishing. That facility processes 44 tons of laundry every single day—about 22,000 towels, 3,400 sheets, and more than 10,000 pillowcases or napkins. To handle this mountain of laundry, the team relies on a German-engineered tunnel washer system that uses just 4.5 liters of water per kilogram of laundry, compared to the 23 liters a conventional washer would need. It’s a major step toward sustainability and efficiency. Just like at Riviera Maya, the operation serves not only thousands of guest rooms but also dozens of restaurants, gyms, and spas across the resort.
Of course, the heart of the story isn’t just the machines—it’s the people. What matters most to Heidy and her team are the moments that reaffirm their sense of purpose. One favorite memory was restoring a guest’s heirloom wedding dress, worn by five generations of brides.
“Restoring this treasure, with its delicate embroidery and fabric, was the kind of challenge our team loves. Seeing the bride’s joy reminded us that our work is about more than linens—it’s about memories,” Heidy says.
Even the battle against sunscreen stains on pool towels has a human touch, with a three-day soaking process that Heidy calls “our secret weapon against these stubborn stains.”
Each shift at Vidanta Riviera Maya includes 32 collaborators who rotate roles to keep the work dynamic. Each shift starts with a quick briefing to share priorities and celebrate successes, and, when occupancy allows, they hold towel-folding competitions to keep spirits high. At Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta, daily team rituals include stretching, birthday celebrations, and even beach outings to build camaraderie among the staff.
So the next time you slip into perfectly pressed sheets, wrap yourself in a plush towel, or notice a pristine table setting, you can thank the laundry team across both resorts. Behind the scenes, they’re running an extraordinary operation that blends technology, teamwork, and care to make every Vidanta stay feel like a dream.
“Our work is about more than linens—it’s about memories.”
