This fall, Vidanta Riviera Maya celebrates its 15th trip around the sun.
That’s 15 years of exquisite vistas, indulgent relaxation, mouthwatering meals, and world-class entertainment, and none of it would be possible—let alone as pleasurable—without the warm service for which Vidanta has become known. Vidanta’s team is its greatest pride, its heart and inspiration. In honor of this special anniversary, we’re highlighting some key members of the original resort crew and asking them about what it takes to build a place where happiness thrives.

What’s been a major career milestone for you?
When I started working at Vidanta Riviera Maya, it was just a jungle—since then, I’ve seen its day-to-day growth. I’ve been part of all the restaurant and bar openings that have been added to our department. And of course, I remember having the good fortune of winning a car in our annual Mexican Posadas!

What do you think makes Vidanta a great place to work?
The atmosphere of family and friendship that exists between all employees. We are a proud 100% Mexican company that maintains its status as one of the best companies in the Riviera Maya.
Recall a career milestone during your time with Vidanta.
Fortunately, I am one of the few who has been working for this destination since before its opening, and I have seen how the company has grown year by year. Without a doubt, the major milestone I have experienced in my time here is the inauguration of the Cirque du Soleil JOYÀ show, which distinguishes us as the only resort or hotel in Latin America to have this type of entertainment experience.

What, for you, makes Vidanta a great place to work?
Vidanta always take actions so all employees are well trained in their departments, and we have all the tools we need to fulfill our duties and responsibilities and be happy. Vidanta succeeds in making great leaders: leaders who listen, and take into consideration all the employees’ thoughts and concerns. We are always working together as a family.
What does it take to establish a relationship of trust with a guest?
Being truly genuine with all guests, and showing them that we love and enjoy what we do. They know this is true when they hear employees talking about how much they like working here. In this way, we create a special bond with them, with affection and respect, mainly because many of our guests are repeat visitors and come up for three or four weeks at a time.

What makes Vidanta a particularly great place to work?
For me, what distinguishes us from others is how Vidanta makes you feel in your workplace, from the way you are treated, to the opportunities offered to you (especially in such a short time), to the ability to express yourself through various means, to the support given to make your operation successful. In my hospitality career, there is no point of comparison, which is why I have remained in this company for more than 15 years.
