A Course That’s Short and Sweet: Meet The Lakes

24 October, 2017 Written by Digital

On September 22nd, Vidanta Golf welcomed a new addition to the family.

The Lakes Course is Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta’s third golf course, and it rounds out the resort’s already formidable golf offerings with new features geared toward player convenience and the golf-equivalent of curb appeal.

Director of Agronomy Shane Eble explains that The Lakes is named for its creative incorporations of water: every single hole features water in some way, from the nominal lakes to pristine waterfalls. Hole 5 teases the course’s playful design, as its picturesque elevated tee and green are visible from various locations throughout the resort, and hole 7 allows guests of the resort to sneak a peek at golfers in play.

A 10-hole course where every hole is par 3, The Lakes is a relatively short course, leaving even the most occupied guest no excuse not to squeeze in a quick round. Why 10 holes? Ani Carrillo, Regional Sales and Marketing Manager of KemperSports, who manages the golf course, answers: “A normal round of golf takes about 4-5 hours; The Lakes will not only allow you to walk, but also be done in two hours or so. 10 holes fit perfectly into the location where the course was to be built. It was a decision that the land made.”

With the towers of Grand Luxxe framing the course, a golfer tries out the new layout.

Unlike Nuevo Vallarta’s other two courses—the Norman Signature Course, and the Nayar Course, which are poised to sprawl out from the edges of the resort’s grounds—The Lakes is tucked within the resort itself, and is designed expressly for walking-on. That means no carts, optional caddies, and optimal convenience. It also means players enjoy an otherwise unknown perspective on the resort’s architectural and landscape design, featuring beautiful views of beloved landmarks like the Santuario entertainment plaza and Grand Luxxe Towers.

Not a morning person? The Lakes is also the course for night owls, staying open and lit until 11:00 PM daily. Between the extended hours and abbreviated course length, The Lakes lets you knock out 10 rounds well after moonrise, and still kick back with a nightcap. In other words, you get to play the game you love, without sacrificing time or proximity to the people you love—conditions that only get more precious when you’re on vacation.

Fall into the Lakes and see for yourself. For more information, contact your concierge.
