JOYÀ Celebrates 3rd Anniversary with a Roaring Party

No one partied like Jay Gatsby.

To impress the girl of his dreams, the title character of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s famous love letter to Jazz Age decadence threw magnificent soirées, each more dazzlingly over-the-top than the last. So it’s no wonder that Vidanta and Cirque du Soleil looked to this master entertainer to inspire their biggest party yet: an all-out VIP gala event to celebrate Cirque du Soleil JOYÀ’s third anniversary this past November.

For three fabulous years spanning over 987 performances, JOYÀ has transported audiences to a magically immersive world of Mexican history and mythos, in which an adventurous alchemist and his intrepid granddaughter endeavor to discover the secrets of life, as course after course of expressive cuisine and innovative mixology help diners access new culinary highs. To celebrate this multisensory marvel, Vidanta unrolled the literal red carpet for a VIP crowd dripping in beaded, sequined, pressed, and finger-waved Art Deco-era finery.

Actress Bárbara Islas poses on the JOYÀ red carpet.

Among the glitterati were a host of young stars, hosts, and influencers, including Bárbara Islas, Roger Gonzalez, Sandra Chahin, Karenka, Gretell Valdéz, and Disney’s Memo Aponte. Lifestyle and fashion bloggers Andy Benavides and Chantal Torres brought their signature style to the red carpet, as did mom-blog phenom Rachel Pitzel. The Who’s Who rounded out with show creators Martin Genest and Richard Dagenais, plus 45 DEGREES (the production company responsible for Cirque du Soleil) colleague Joel Bergeron.

The floating dance floor was added to the lake next to Nektar just for the event.

In addition to enjoying a special private performance of JOYÀ, guests and performing artists alike cut a rug at an exclusive after-party at Vidanta Riviera Maya’s sultry Nektar bar. With the curtain down and the lights dimmed, you might squint and mistake 21st century Mexico for 1920s Long Island: bubbles rising, smiles glowing, and all the glamour Gatsby intended.
