Shaking Things Up with Mixology

Creativity, care, and passion are the main ingredients in the liquid gourmet artform called mixology.

The bar scene has been keen on creating unique customer experiences through cocktails for some years. And at Vidanta, the Bar Chef department constantly works to provide our guests with innovative drinks and ambiance to enjoy at our resorts.

“Vidanta entered the world of mixology through the bar at Nektar restaurant, located next to the Cirque du Soleil Theater,” recalls René Ramos, Mixology Manager at Vidanta Riviera Maya.

“Mixology has been the perfect venue for us to showcase and give a taste of Mexican culture, liquors, and wines to our guests.” That is why Ramos and his team give a unique twist to traditional cocktails using tequila, mezcal, or fermented fruit beverages like tepache—all deeply-rooted Mexican ingredients.

Take a mixology class or tasting to learn more about how to bring these recipes home.

Each Vidanta Resort has several signature alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktails. And at Vidanta Riviera Maya, guests can learn how to prepare these drinks during a mixology class taught by Ramos. Guests get to know the chemistry behind the concoction and the history of the spirits used. They leave the class with the printed recipes and, often, with a Mexican liquor bottle that cannot be found elsewhere, to replicate the cocktail at home.

The Bar Chef department at Vidanta is continually experimenting with new proposals, from designing drinks to making original syrups or flavored salts and sugars. This department also trains bartenders and cart tenders (bar cart mixologists) to expertly deliver guests an excellent, customized experience directly to their dinner table.

Next time you vacation at Vidanta, we invite you to ask for our signature mixology cocktails to see if any tickle your fancy. Cheers!
